Granger & Oaks is proud to offer it’s support to SAFEagent Awareness Week which runs from June 1st – June 5th and will see over 3,000 professional lettings agents unite across the UK for what will be the 4th annual initiative that looks to drive awareness amongst consumers of the importance of choosing a lettings and management agent who is part of a Client Money Protection (CMP) Scheme.
‘We are delighted to offer Granger & Oak’s support to SAFEagent Awareness Week, which seeks to improve landlord and tenant confidence in the private rented sector’, commented Andrew Sainsbury, Director at Granger & Oaks. ‘There are too many people who are not aware of the potential pitfalls of choosing an agent who doesn’t have the right accreditation, in particular, client money protection (CMP). Consumers are not always aware of the fact that if an agent absconded with landlords or tenants money without CMP in place, there would be little hope of retrieving those funds. I would urge everyone to check the agent they use can provide details of the organisation they are regulated by and confirm that they are covered by a CMP scheme. If your agent cannot provide this assurance, I would highly recommended switching to an agent that can’, added Andrew.
National SAFEagent Awareness Week is dedicated to highlighting the risks to consumers of using agents who are not part of CMP Schemes and alerting them to ways in which these risks can be avoided. The best way to do this is to ensure that landlords and tenants only sign up to letting agents carrying the SAFEagent logo
